Estimate the loss on your fleet
Three inputs are enough: the number of vehicles, the brands present and the dominant acquisition period. The result is an indicative range, not a firm figure.
1. How many trucks over 6 tonnes did you buy or hire between 1997 and 2014?
2. Which brands make up your fleet?
3. Which acquisition years dominate?
Indicative estimate based on an average net price of EUR 100,000 per vehicle, an overcharge of 10 to 20 % and a statutory interest rate of 4 % per year. Only an audit of your documents produces a firm figure.

The original overcharge is only part of your claim. The decisive lever is the compounding of statutory late payment interest, accrued over twelve to twenty-eight years.
A common mistake is to value the loss at the price increase alone. Because of the time elapsed since the infringement, accrued late payment interest now represents more than half of the final claimable value.
Worked example for a tractor unit at EUR 100,000
The table below shows the multiplier effect of late payment interest by year of acquisition, for a vehicle bought new at an average net price of EUR 100,000.
